Golden Spiders 2006 - Not all paid this time!

| | Comments (5)
Unless I'm mistaken it seems that you can nominate people in some categories of the Golden Spiders this year without having to pay. Unfortunately it's not at all clear from the website which categories are "free" and which ones you need to pay for. Best Social Networking, Community & Not for Profit website seems to be free and is described as:
" The Golden Spider for the Best Social Networking, Community & Not for Profit website will be awarded to a website that best facilitates the process of connecting individuals through the Internet. This category includes charities, community based websites and personal blogs. Criteria Judging will be based on how well the site facilitates communication/networking and/or provides information, services or to an on-line audience. Key factors that will be considered include visual design, navigation, content, functionality, interactivity, community building and overall experience."
So you could nominate blogs, forums and useful sites I suppose. The only thing that isn't 100% clear is where they draw the line on "not for profit". How strict are they? If you are running adsense or other banners on a site does that mean it is considered "for profit"?

would you like a nomination - those spiders are pointy and heavy. plus if you get drunk you can use them as currency when you run out of cash :)

Is this speaking from personal experience? :)

I remember seeing the Spin spider in their offices a couple of years back - it sure is a hefty piece of metal alright.

So if you were going to nominate me how would you justify it? :)

Justify - hell any reason to see you get drunk, go up to accept the award and go onto a drunk fueled bitch fest - that is worth the entrance fee (195euro...each...well f*** that)
