Cool Bars - Ice Cool

| | Comments (6)
I probably should have been aware of Below Zero, but I wasn't until I read about it in today's Sunday Business Post. If you remember the party in the Die Another Day, then you may get the idea of a bar built completely out of ice:
. Experience the extreme - the ABSOLUT ICEBAR LONDON is kept at minus 5 degrees all year round and everything inside is made out of crystal clear ice transported especially from the Torne River in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden. Step into an environment where the walls, bar, tables, and even your own personal glass with a vodka cocktail is made out of the purest ice
Sounds em - cool :)

There is one in Stockholm and I have been there twice. The glasses are made of ice but when you drink from them they will start to melt from your body heat. You can get several refills from each one and the lip will just start to get smooth.

I can guess that licking the metal in the place would be a bad idea.

Spare a thought for the bar staff though. They have to work an 8 hour shift in the place!

Actually you do need gloves to stop your hands sticking. They provide you the gloves!! lol.

Your lips don't stick though - i presumed the vodka only drinks may help in that process!! The seats also have fur skins on them to stop you sticking.

I think it was about -18 or so.
