I use a linksys WRT54G on my home network. It was running the standard Linksys firmware at one point, but I've been running a variety of Linux variants on it over the last few months.
This evening, while looking for information on OpenWRT I stumbled across HotSpotSystem.com.
While several of the alternative firmwares offer hotspot functionality this is the first one I've come across that offers a builtin revenue stream.
I'm not sure how the revenue share works with the commercial offerings from Bitbuzz, Eircom, BT etc., but this alternative does look very appealing.
Pity I don't live somewhere where I could actually make use of it :)

I have used this in the past (http://www.fon.com/en/) but this looks much more promissing ;)

You could add it your list of money-making schemes :)

LOL we'll it is a nice addon, be can live without it.
I came across HotSpotSystem.com and knew off the bat this would be great for our new project. We have converted our Motor Home into an Instant HotSpot.
With a portable Satellites system from StarBand and programing our Linksys router with HotSpotSstem.com firmware, we were able to provide a wireless HOTSPOT where ever we go...Wal-Mart parking lots and truck stops along our travels and provide Internet access at RV Parks that otherwise had none!
Great combination!
I must add that HotSpotSystem.com offers outstanding tech support! They are very prompt in answering any question or problems you may have. This is important when considering setting up a HotSpot. You can be sure that HotSpotSystem.com will be there to walk you thru and get you system back on line!
