Amazon Outdo Themselves

Since I live in Ireland I'm used to waiting several days (or longer) for my Amazon orders.

It's not an issue.

Yesterday morning I ordered a few DVDs, but since some of them weren't due out for another week or so I wasn't expecting to receive anything immediately.

So I nearly fell of my chair when I took delivery of a DVD boxset this morning. They'd managed to get it to me in approximately 24 hours! And no, I hadn't opted for express delivery or anything like that - I'd chosen the normal options with a total postage cost of £2.99.

Here's the part of the email:

Delivery estimate: 29 Aug 2008 - 4 Sep 2008
Dispatch estimate for these items: 26 Aug 2008

Wow!

I am truly impressed!

Ordered a book from Amazon on July 29th, no sign of it since, so today I contacted Amazon to let them know.

They responded quickly and let me know that they have dispatched a second copy with no extra charge.

Later this evening I received another email from them informing methe original book was undeliverable and returned to them.

Luckily, I had asked them to send the second copy to my parents address which is more central, my own place is a little remote. Hopefully it will arrive in a couple of days.

They're usually very good about replacements

I've been meaning to order a Web Analytics book.

I was thinking I should order from Amazon.co.uk but I've noticed alot of the times things are cheaper from the US version of Amazon.

What I hate though is that they usually offer free shipping in the UK (including NI) but not here in the Great Southern Land :).

Do you order from Amazon UK?

What were the DVD's?

Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister - complete boxset
Asterix - both films
